Sentosa trip

We went to Sentosa Island in Singapore on the 17th of June, Sunday. It was SO crowded! Having lived in Australia for many years, I had gradually forgotten how cramped Singapore was (still is!) =(  I really regretted going on a Sunday, and I strongly recommend visitors to go on a weekday. We were there for 8 hours, but spent nearly 2 hours just standing/waiting around, twiddling our thumbs. We went to a few attractions in Sentosa, and had to queue for tickets at each and every attraction. Sentosa is easily accessible now, and we took a train, called Sentosa Express, into Sentosa. That cost $3 each, and only consisted of the entrance fee into Sentosa. Hence, for every attraction that we went to, we needed to queue for tickets, and that ate up most of our time. There is a package where you can purchase at Sentosa Station in Vivo City to ensure that you get admission to most of the rides/attractions. However, the majority of the attractions included in the package price was not for children under 3. Hence, we could not pre-purchase the admission tickets to avoid queuing.

We went for the Dolphin show at the Underwater World, and we were informed that the show was starting and to proceed to the show area. That was at 4pm. However, we waited for more than 45mins(!!) for a show that lasted less than 15mins. Although the dolphins and seals were undeniably adorable, the show was really not that impressing, and definitely not worth waiting 45mins for. It was also too crowded. The staff kept telling visitors to "move-in" to squeeze in more people. What they should've done was shut the doors and stop more people from entering. We had to wait so long as the show started late to accommodate the late-comers. Hence, not only did we had to wait for inconsiderate late-comers in the scorching heat, we had to squeeze in order to share our space for these late-comers. The show at Underwater world was certainly a waste of time.

Poor bubsy was bitten by a mosquito on his right cheek, and now there is a pink scar on his cheek  =(

However, we did enjoy ourselves with old-time favourites such as the Merlion. We also caught a glimpse of the new Universal Studios, and forgotten tracks of the old monorail.

We took pictures with the parrots. For S$65, we received 4 different prints posed with different parrots, a commemorative Merlion photo-frame, and a CD compilation of all the other photos (about 10 in total) which were not printed out for our choosing.

Bubsy usually has 3-4 naps during the day. However, he was so fascinated with all the sights and sounds at Sentosa that he kept himself awake the whole time. He eventually fell asleep on the way back home, and we tried to wake him up for a bath once we got home. However, he was so exhausted that we couldn't wake him up until 11pm, when hunger woke him up :)

One thing that I noticed about Singapore was the new Chrysler taxis when we were at Changi airport. It is the exact same PT Cruiser which I drive in Perth, only that it is of a different colour. I bought the Chrysler in November last year because it was hard to commute with a baby on public transport. I love Perth's transport system - you can push the prams up on the buses, unlike Singapore! The only downside is the waiting time. I can't wait 25mins for a train with a screaming baby in the cold weather.

Anyway, the taxis reminded me of my car. I miss my Chrysler, and I can't wait to return to Perth next month :)
