Mini adventure in our local park

Yesterday we woke up to lovely weather - the sky was dark blue, breezy and cloudy. The weather was perfect for playing in the park! No sign of the sun! Hence, we decided to go to Neil Hawkins Park. I love going out to parks when the weather is breezy, and the sun is hidden. I do not need to worry about getting skin cancer every second and constantly looking for big trees to shade me from the sun.

Neil Hawkins Park is home to a myriad of wildlife. There were ducks, pigeons, parrots, cockatoos - it was just a flutter of birds everywhere!

We decided to go down to the jetty first to look at the river - and found more ducks there! We forgot to bring some left-over bread. Bub would've enjoyed feeding the ducks =(

The wind was so strong that it almost blew bub's hat away!

We did not have time to venture down this path, as we feared that it was going to rain

Bub was trying to skip and hop his way back up the hill.
There was a vibrantly-coloured playground at the park. It was not sheltered, but there is this giant tree at the side which offered some relief from the sun. We left the jetty at about 10am. As soon as we arrived at the playground, all signs of an impending rain soon vanished. In fact, the sun shone so brightly and it became so hot that I felt like I was in Singapore again. Where's that strong gust of breeze that I felt moments before??

When we first arrived at the park, there were very few people around. In fact, it was so few that I was able to actually count the number of people excluding us - which were four. However, when we went to the playground, more people came and the car park was almost half-filled with cars. Everyone must be thinking the same thing as soon as all indications of a rain was gone - let's go to the park! The cars arrived in leaps and bounds.

Sun is out!

We left the park at 10.45am because it was getting too hot - the sun in Australia is not good as there is a hole in the ozone layer and hence we are not protected from the strong rays of the sun. We left for the library and in good time too - as more people arrived in the park.

Birds of all feathers pecking on the grass for worms
Bub was so fascinated with the birds that he refused to go to the car

Neil Hawkins Park is a great place to bond with the family. There are BBQ pits, and plenty of grass patches to host picnics. There are reasonably cleaned toilets, and outdoor taps to wash hands/feet near the playground. Best of all, we get to enjoy nature at no cost =)
