Halloween Party at Kindy

Toku's school celebrated halloween yesterday. Parents were asked to bring biscuits or lollies to share, and the kids had to go dress in costume.

The class started with a morning greeting, a Japanese song, and then Aya sensei captured the kids' imaginations by reciting a Japanese folk story using hand puppets.

Then it was snack time! I was working the day before, so I did not have time to bake any biscuits. I went to my local Asian supermarket to buy some of my old-time childhood favourites like Hello Panda biscuits (A$6.50 for 10 packets), wang wang (A$6 for like a gigantic pack - it's almost 4x more than the ones sold at NTUC), and a pack of Beattie lollipops (A$2.89) from Big W. I also bought orange Halloween goodie bags (A$3 for a pack of 8 from Big W). The kids LOVED the goodie bags.

Some brought sweets, but most of the kids brought home-baked cookies. Their mums were SAHM, so I obviously could not compare with them *lol* My favourite was the strawberry ginger cookie, if only I could get my hands on the recipe!!

Wonderful home-baked Halloween cookies

Top left: Yummy strawberry ginger cookie! Toku preferred the skeleton cookie more.
There was a fashion parade too. I managed to take a short video clip of bub ambling down the "runway" made of tables. Check out my Youtube clip here.

After some sun and sand time, it was back in the classroom where more stories were told, songs sung, and then Toku did his very own (with Natsuko sensei's help) Halloween pumpkin!

Bub had a feathery good time making his first pumpkin! Happy Halloween!
